Spotlight on Indy Achieves

Partnering with the city

At IUPUI, our community building efforts take a variety of forms. From IUPUI's internationally recognized Center for Service and Learning to the student-run Outreach Clinic on the city's near eastside that provides medical, dental, social, and legal services to uninsured and underserved residents, our campus is one that is deeply rooted in community.

Our partnership with the city of Indianapolis and with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana on the Indy Achieves program reinforces IUPUI's commitment to the people of this city and all Marion County residents. Indy Achieves helps ensure that all county residents have the opportunity and ability to pursue postsecondary education that is vital for success today. Through this initiative, all qualified county residents attending IUPUI receive additional financial assistance to close any remaining gaps in academic costs.

IUPUI proudly hosted Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett on campus in August of 2019 for his press conference announcing the first round of Promise Scholarship recipients at IUPUI. In addition to financial support, each Promise Scholar is matched with an on-campus professional coach to help them fulfill basic needs, navigate campus resources, and participate in work experiences.
